I grew up in Japan as a Korean and moved to Philadelphia in high school.  Throughout my life in Japan I attended an International school where I learned to truly appreciate students from various countries.  My exposure to International cuisine from a very young age made me experiment with baking.  After working as a social worker for a while, getting married and raising children (who are both young teenagers now) I am finally coming back to practicing what I truly enjoy – baking and cooking (not out of necessity, but to enhance my own creativity).

You might be wondering why I decided to name my blog “Selfish Cooking”…  that’s because I bake and cook out of a whim.  If something piques my curiosity I have to try it.  Many friends ask me or rather drop hints why I don’t bake/cook for them more often – well, that’s because I’m doing this for myself.  I felt like I took care of feeding people for a while, and I want to nurture myself; does that make sense?

I am not a professional chef by any means, I am an amateur who just loves to cook!  Anyway, I hope you enjoy this blog with me!

  1. Don’t worry, we are all amateurs trying to cook. I love your cakes, they look phenomenal. Thanks you for stopping by my blog and sorry I took so long to come and see yours. Have a great weekend!
